Kokomo Indoor Tourney
Horseshoe Friends,
The 5th Annual Kenny Pendergrass Open will be in two weeks, Jan. 14 and 15th at our courts in Kokomo. I want to make this our largest tournament ever. As most of you know Kenny is my Father-in-Law and the best horseshoe friend I have ever had. Kenny's love for horseshoes goes back many years and I would like to make this year special to him. You are invited to this special weekend. Kenny will soon be 86 years old, is fine and looking forward to seeing his many horseshoe friends.
Due to the great turnouts we have been having, the classes will be set up in five man classes pitching on two courts with two classes pitching at a time. Each pitcher will throw more shoes per game than normal.
As in the past the weather in the barn will be 60 degrees and a slight breeze mostly from the pitchers.

                                                                                                 Thanks, Fred                 Happy New Year

Curt Day Horseshoe Courts in Frankfort, Indiana
The Indiana Clinton County Horseshoe Pitching Club President Sam Payne is presently working with the city of Frankfort to give the Curt Day Horseshoe Courts a face lift.  The courts were ready for the Curt Day Memorial Tournament on July 16-17, 2011.  We had a good turnout of 26 pitchers and 4 classes.  Results can be viewed at http://www.horseshoepitching.com/tournaresults/tournaresults.html .
Sam is hoping to offer Frankfort's courts for a future bid for the state tournament to be decided at a future meeting of voting members.  Please click on link (or picture) below to go the the Curt Day Horseshoe Courts web site and view pictures of the courts at this early stage of repairs.

Two Messages from INHPA President Ron Womack
Spring is almost here !!!!  A couple of important announcements:

INHPA will be at the Indiana state fair this year---The fair runs for 3 weeks and the INHPA will be there August 16,17,18,19 & 20 of 2010; Monday through Friday, with demonstrations and open tourneys from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day.
The AHPA and the independant Speedway horseshoe club will each have a week.  Myself (INHPA), Sharon Pacala (the president of the AHPA) and Mark Smallwood (INHPA member and treasurer of the Speedway club) have been having meetings the last several months and received the fair boards approval.  We are planning to have handouts maybe a sanctioned tournament and a open tournament and invite the public to join us.  I will provide additional info as we get closer.  We would like for the INHPA clubs to have representitives during this week and advertise also.

The 2nd announcement is that the Atterbury courts will be saved---Vickie Roach (our central VP) informed me that the building has been removed and the Johnson county park board will keep the courts.  There will be some changes--there will be 14 courts with a roof (no walls).  The plans are to hang wind/weather tarps for the walls.  If everthing goes as planned they will schedule tournaments next year 2011.
I feel these are great news items for our Charter.

   Best Regards,
   Ron
